How would Hermann Hesse celebrate his birthday today, here in Montagnola? We imagine him surrounded by friends and artists, each bringing a special gift: an improvised performance, a drawing created on the spot, a playful poem, accompanied by spontaneous music and lively conversations about life’s wonders and follies. We, too, wish to rediscover that same free-spirited and playful atmosphere, inspired by the creative energy that once animated Collina d’Oro when Hesse lived there with his circle of artist friends – a place that remains a cradle of creativity across disciplines and now becomes the ideal setting for an event dedicated to the great writer.
To mark his 149th birthday, we celebrate with an evening of performances, music, poetry, and installations in a summer garden near Casa Camuzzi, his first home in Montagnola: a convivial moment to meet, raise a toast, enjoy an aperitif, discover the artists’ gifts, and immerse yourself in Montagnola’s unique genius loci.

Entrance fee: «Pay What You Want» principle. Registration is not required.
