Bilingual reading and memories of Hesse’s garden from a witness of the time
Sunday 1 February 2026 · 16.30 · Museo Hermann Hesse Montagnola
On the occasion of the finissage of the exhibition In Hesse's gardens: on compost, art and awareness, we warmly invite you to immerse yourself one last time in the microcosm of his gardens. After a guided tour with the director and curator, a bilingual reading follows — Tra il sole e l’ombra cresce tutto ciò che è vivente — giving voice to Hermann Hesse’s reflections on the relationship with nature, care and contemplation.
We will then meet Annette Korolnik, daughter of Alfred Andersch, who as a child worked in the garden of the Casa Rossa under Hesse’s supervision. Annette Korolnik shares previously unpublished memories that reveal the man behind the writer, offering a rare perspective from someone who knew him in his private sphere, where even silences became a form of communication between the child and the poet.
An aperitif will be offered at the end.
Reading by Simon Cattaneo (Italian) and Torsten Korte (German)
Entrance fee: «Pay What You Want» principle
